UniMAP Tersenarai 10 Terbaik Di Malaysia 

KANGAR, 4 Ogos – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) akan terus memperkasakan agenda pengajian tinggi negara dalam semua aspek termasuk penerbitan dan jurnal yang lebih berdaya saing dalam usaha merealisasikan misi sebagai antara universiti terbaik dunia.

Naib Canselor UniMAP, Brig. Jen. Datuk Prof. Dr. Kamarudin Hussin berkata, berdasarkan kenyataan yang dikeluarkan oleh laman web yang menjalankan kajian mengenai kedudukan universiti dunia iaitu Webometrics (www.webometrics.info), UniMAP kini menduduki 10 tempat teratas dalam kedudukan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi (IPT) di Malaysia.

Katanya, kajian tersebut dijalankan menggunakan kaedah penilaian laman web untuk menentukan pencapaian universiti dari segi kandungan bahan, rujukan, visibiliti dan kesarjanaan menerusi aktiviti yang menggunakan ruang siber.

"Andaiannya, universiti yang menduduki ranking terbaik selalu dirujuk dan dijadikan panduan berdasarkan kepada kandungan dan kesarjanaan warga universiti tersebut,” jelasnya.

Penarafan webometrik melibatkan 40,000 institusi pengajian tinggi di seluruh dunia di mana 10 tangga teratas dibolot oleh universiti dari Amerika Syarikat menerusi Universiti Harvard disusuli oleh Institut Teknologi Massachusetts (MIT), disusuli oleh Stanford, Berkeley, Cornell, Minessota, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin Madison, Illinoise dan Michigan.

Sementara itu, dalam penarafan World Schimago Rankings 2013 pula, UniMAP berjaya memperbaiki kedudukan di tempat ke-10 di Malaysia dan tempat 1,534 di peringkat dunia.

Dr. Kamarudin berkata, pada penarafan yang dibuat tahun lalu, UniMAP menghuni kedudukan ke-13 di Malaysia dan 2,350 di dunia.

“Schimago merupakan penarafan yang dibuat berdasarkan penerbitan bertaraf scopus. Tahniah!,” ujarnya yang dipetik dari laman facebook peribadi beliau.
