KANGAR – The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), officiated at the naming ceremony of the University’s library at the Pauh Putra campus, near here last night.
The library which houses more than 43,000 printed material was named after him as the Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Library. It is the first library in Malaysia to use the Worldcat Local, a search engine which allows access to a global catalog of library collections.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, who was accompanied by the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, also visited UniMAP’s fm Radio station located in the library building.
The online radio station was headed by lecturer, Husna Afifi Md Yusoff, who had vast experience in the field and was previously attached to Radio 24 BERNAMA and Perlisfm, said UniMAP vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin.
Also present at the event were Higher Education Department, director-general, Prof Datuk Dr Rujhan Mustaffa and Kazakhstan Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr Beibut Atamkulov
